John Warren, J.D., CFE, Chief Executive Officer, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners

John Warren is the Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). He is also an advisory member of the ACFE Board of Regents and sits on the Board of Directors of the ACFE Foundation.

Warren is responsible for setting the strategic vision of the association and for implementing enterprise-level strategic initiatives with the goal of growing global membership, improving member satisfaction and raising the profile of the ACFE.

Prior to becoming Chief Executive Officer, Warren most recently served as Chief Strategy Officer for the organization. He first joined the ACFE as a member of its legal department in 1996 and in 2004 he was appointed General Counsel, where he was responsible for providing guidance, oversight, and direction to management and staff on all legal issues affecting the ACFE. He served in this position until 2022.

He was a co-author of the Report to the Nations, the ACFE’s biennial study on the costs and effects of occupational fraud from 2002 to 2022, and he also serves in an advisory capacity as a representative to the ACFE Research Institute, a multidisciplinary academic research center dedicated to supporting anti- fraud research.

Karen Bertram, CPA, Forensic Accountant, Federal Bureau of Investigation 

Karen Bertram has been a Forensic Accountant with the FBI for the last 14 years. After starting her career at FBI HQ in Washington, D.C., Bertram transferred to the Omaha Field Office where she supports Case Agents in investigations under every type of criminal and national security violation. Bertram is a member of the FBI’s Virtual Currency Response Team, giving her access to specialized training which is then shared with federal, state, and local law enforcement. Bertram is a Certified Public Accountant in Nebraska and holds Bachelors’ Degrees in Math and Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Accounting.

Title: Cryptocurrency: Fundamentals, Fraud, and Forensic Investigations

Aaron Graves, Assistant Attorney General, Nebraska Attorney General's Office

Aaron Graves is a lawyer with the Consumer Protection Bureau of the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office. He is a member of the bureau’s Enforcement Team and will be joined by two of the team’s investigators. One function of the Enforcement Team is to investigate fraud and scam complaints received by the AG’s Consumer Affairs Response Team.

Title: Nebraska Consumer Fraud
